From application to your first solo route — here is how onboarding works.

Depending on season, route count, internal scheduling and Amazon's daily route allocation, shifts are assigned flexibly day-to-day. We try to keep a steady schedule, but you may be assigned to different shifts on different days. Here are the shift types we operate.

Pick up your van and drive to the Waiting Area

Grab your van from the Amazon parking lot and drive to the waiting area (about 10 min).

Load your van

Around 15 min — everything is ready and bagged for you.

Deliver some parcels

Start the route and deliver parcel after parcel.

Take a mandatory break

A short breather — the break is mandatory.

Everything you need to know about working as a delivery driver — straight, no jargon.

• 01How often do I get paid?

  Monthly, no later than the 15th calendar day of the following month.

• 02Do I receive a uniform and safety shoes?

  Every driver receives a branded uniform. You provide your own safety shoes.

• 03What if I have an accident with the van?

  Follow SIPA — STOP, INFORM, POLICE, ANALYSE. Stop safely, inform dispatch, contact police if required.

• 04Can I take unpaid leave?

  Yes, depending on availability and operational needs. Submit requests in advance.

• 05What documents do I need on day one?

  EU/EEA driver's license (min 6 months), proof of address in Germany, right-to-work proof, bank details, tax and social insurance numbers.

• 06What happens if I damage the van?

  All vans are insured. Report damage immediately to dispatch. Reviewed under our LEO procedure.

• 07What if the app or phone fails?

  Contact dispatch right away. Backup devices and support keep deliveries going.

• 08What about a dog attack?

  Don't approach the dog. Follow training safety guidelines and contact dispatch if you cannot deliver.

• 09Can I take someone in the van?

  No. For safety, insurance, and compliance, only XLiefer employees are allowed.

• 10Can I get a permanent contract?

  Yes. Many drivers move from seasonal to permanent — based on attendance, safety, performance, reliability.

• 11What contract types do you offer?

  Full-time, part-time, and minijob contracts.
